Lacquered elm wood carving of a four legged frog on a winnowing basket or dust pan. The dust pan was used in some religious ceremonies to exercise demons while the winnowing basket represented an abundance of grain. Consequently the basket was often worn as a protection against evil spirits while it encouraged wealth or plenty. The four legged frog represented a wish for many male heir. Together with a winnowing basket or dustpan the frog would represent for healthy progeny protected from illness, misfortune or death.
