|Title:||GOOD BRONZE RAIN DRUM|
|Size:||16.50" x 24.50" x 24.50"|
Very good Bronze Rain drum from the Karen culture (northern Thailand and Burma). Exceptional quality and detail of geometric patterns with fish and flying birds all impressed into the surface of the Tinpanum. The edge with double stacking frogs. This drum was purchased in Thailand during the early 1950's and brought back to the US shortly after. These drums are also referred to as frog drums and have been used for hundreds of years in various tribal rituals in South East Asia especially so among the Karen people. The drum was considered to be a form of currency and not only brought people good fortune but could also be traded for land, animals or wives.
