2 Good Nihon Matsu Isho-kasane dansu (2 sectioned drawer chest used for the storage of valuable clothing). Keyaki (Japanese red elm) drawer fronts and Sugi (cryptomeria) case. Good wrought iron drawer pulls lock plates and fittings throughout. The square lock plates with a raised flying crane above a hinged brass tortoise which swings down to disguise key holes and two raised locking finials in the form of Chrysanthemums. Warabite handles with pine and plum protective stops mounted above and below symbolize strength and beauty. Late 19th c.
